Smoother Look is a complex mixture of fruit extracts that will over time dissolve scar tissue and leave clean healthy tissue instead.
The four main types of scars Smoother Look works on:
Keloid scars
These scars protrude from the skin and extend beyond the original injury site. Over time, a keloid scar may affect mobility. Possible treatments include surgical scar removal, laser surgery or injections with steroids. Smaller keloids can be removed using cryotherapy (freezing therapy using liquid nitrogen). You can also prevent keloid formation by using pressure treatment and silicone gel.
Contracture scars
If your skin has been burned, you may have a contracture scar. These scars cause tightening of skin that can impair your ability to move. Additionally, this type of scar may go deeper to affect muscles and nerves.
Hypertrophic scars
Raised and red scars that are similar to keloids, but do not extend beyond the boundaries of the injury site. Possible treatments can include steroid injections and laser surgery.
Acne scars
If you’ve had severe acne, you probably have the scars to prove it. There are many types of acne scars, ranging from deep pits to scars that are angular or wavelike in appearance. Treatment will depend on the types of scars you have.
What exactly is a scar?
A scar usually takes 12 to 18 months to fully form. A scar is growth of collagen beneath the skin that is formed as the result of wound healing; therefore, every cut or injury to the skin heals to form a scar.
Scars come in all shapes and sizes depending on the wound:
- Age
- Scar Location and Size
- Nutrition
- Genetics
- Infection
Not all scars are the result of wounds, burns, surgeries and accidents. Skin diseases caused by bacteria, fungus, or viruses can also result in scarring. For example, acne often leaves a variety of scars, and stretch marks are a form of scars caused by weight loss or growth.
Fruit extracts are also known as Salicylic acid is a type of beta-hydroxy acid (BHA). They are obtained naturally from fruits and plants so they are commonly called fruit acids.
Fruit acid works by peeling of dead layer of skin. The removal of dead cells helps unclog pores, thus treating common types of acne like blackheads and whiteheads. It also removes sebum (oil) from skin pores, making the skin feel smoother.
Side effects of Fruit Acids
You might develop slight stinging sensation when using it for the first time. Dryness and redness on the areas applied are expected to very mild. You can use a non oil-based moisturizer to prevent that dryness effect.
Pregnant women are advised not to use Fruit Extracts as it might lead to Reye’s syndrome.
Smoother Look contains extracts of the following: Orange Fruit, Lemon Fruit, Sugar Cane, Sugar Maple, Billberry & Water.
